Diesel particulate filters for engines up to 20 KW
Exhaust emissions from off-highway diesel engines are currently governed by European regulations, which vary according to engine power.
As of 2019 all new Non Road Mobile Machinery (NRMM) will have to comply with “Stage V” emission levels:
Small engines with an output of less than 20kW can emit twice as much particulate matter than a 30kW diesel motor, conforming to the same regulations.
BISAF set out to address this issues by developing a diesel particulate filter system specifically for such small engines. Key considerations were that they are often used on plant and machinery in environments with severe space constraints and that existing systems available for larger engines are simply too bulky.
Our solution: The “ParticulatorTM”, which relies on active regeneration only every 8-50 hours run time – depending on how “dirty” the motor is.
The cleaning procedure is simple:
- The engine is stopped
- The filter is plugged into a 230V, 110V or 24V power source
- The ‘start’ button is pressed
- After about 30 minutes, the regeneration cycle is complete and the cleaning process stops automatically. The machine is ready for use again.
A pressure gauge at the back of the “ParticulatorTM” clearly indicates when regeneration is due. This can be upgraded to a Data Logger, which captures exhaust back-pressure readings and stores this data over a period of 18 months.
In addition to ease of operation, a major advantage of this system is that installation and removal are quick – less than 5 minutes on average, which makes the“ParticulatorTM” ideal for companies in the plant hire sector.
